The devastated family of a Hartford man who died in a crash on the A141 have paid tribute to a dad with a “big heart” and a “loud personality”.
The devastated family of a Hartford man who died in a crash on the A141 have paid tribute to a dad with a “big heart” and a “loud personality”.
Andy Symmons, 44, of Barn Close, was killed when his blue Kawasaki motorcycle collided with a white Mercedes Sprinter Van on the junction of Ermine Street and Lancaster Way, in Huntingdon.
The incident happened on Wednesday, February 10.
Cambridgeshire police were called to the scene of the crash after 3pm after being alerted by a member of the public.
Paying tribute to their dad, Dean, Cara and Zoe said: “He was a beloved father, son, partner and friend.
“Our dad was known for his smart mouth, witty remarks, loud personality and also his stubbornness.
“Despite this, he had a big heart and has left a void in so many lives that will never be filled.”
The trio have spoke of the wonderful memories that they shared with their dad and will treasure forever.
Including the father and son tradition of going to Superbike shows every year as well as family holidays to Clacton and their shared loved of ska music. The family added: “Certain things will never be the same.
“We fought, laughed and cried with our dad, and over the past few years began to realize how important we were to each other.”
Karen, his partner, shared Andy’s love of bikes and frequently rode on the back across the country on his beloved Kawasaki ZZR1400 - The Big Z.
“Although he was taken from us all too soon, he did take his pride and joy with him and we are all sure he’s showing it off proudly to everyone up there. Our dad died doing what he loved the most, and this is something we can take comfort in.
“Keep riding Dad, and be sure to watch over us all once in a while.”
Mr Symmons, known to friends as Moose, was a driver for W Carter Haulage.
Police are appealing for anyone who witnessed the incident to come forward.
PC Ian Gray, from the Beds, Cambs and Herts Road Policing Unit, said: “I am keen to hear from anyone who witnessed the collision or saw either of the vehicles in the moments leading up to it.”
Police are asking that anyone who may have seen the collision, or the car in the moment leading up to the crash to contact the road policing unit on 101, quoting incident 271 of February 10.
