Children spending Easter in Hinchingbrooke Hospital’s Holly Ward were given a batch of Easter eggs this week.

Staff received the donation on Thursday from reporter Abi Weaving and sales executive Barry Warren before handing out the sweet treats to patients and their families.

In the run up to the bank holiday weekend, more than 100 eggs were sent to the children's unit, including more than 30 kindly donated by the readers and advertisers of The Hunts Post

Kathryn Childs, a nurse on the ward, said: "People have been very generous.

"It keeps the normality for the children and makes them feel like they're not missing out. It runs on our family-centred care and keeping the family together as a whole, regardless of whether they're at home or in hospital."

The 19-bed ward cares for children up to 17-years-old and treats both planned and emergency cases.

Abbie Weaving, a reporter at The Hunts Post, said: "We were happy to donate these and want to say thank you to our readers and advertises for their generosity."
