The glasshouse, opened by Bunny Guinness, a six-time Chelsea Flower Show gold medal winner, highlights the work of John Drake, who died in 2012.

The renovation of the garden began in 2010 under the leadership of Mr Drake, together with the Cambridgeshire Garden Trust.

The new glasshouse features an apple arch with aquilegias planted at its feet in memory of Mr Drake, who, as a Royal Horticultural Society judge, developed a national collection of aquilegias.

Trustees, volunteers and guests, including deputy mayor of Ramsey, Councillor Adela Costello, attended the special event to mark the opening.

Also in attendance was Lord De Ramsey, whose ancestors lived in Abbey House, where the gardens sit.
