A charity fishing match in Godmanchester has raised money for the new Macmillan Woodlands Centre at Hinchingbrooke Hospital.

The event on Dukes Lake in Godmanchester on July 11 was held in memory of Godmanchester man Clive Dear who passed away on October 6, 2013, aged 58, after he contracted Mesothelioma, an asbestos-related form of cancer.

A hog roast, charity auction and raffle was held at Rectory Farm, near the lake, later in the day and entertainment was provided by the Roger The Pig band.

“The money raised so far is approximately £2,300, although we are still receiving generous donations,” said Donna Hall who helped to organise the event.

“We would like to say a big thank you to everyone who supported this event, from the fisherman to all the generous businesses and individuals and all the people who supported the day and helped to make this event possible.”
