Doug McIlwain said the custom red and black nets, worth hundreds of pounds, were stolen from Jubilee Park, in Huntingdon, sometime between Friday night and Saturday morning. The nets are used by Huntingdon Town Football Club as well as several youth and adult teams who play on the pitches. Mr McIlwain, chairman of Huntingdon Town, said: Somebody decided that even though we had just bought new nets, their need was greater than ours. It is incredibly frustrating but we will just have to move on. Mr McIlwain said the nets can only be bought in pairs and cost £250 to replace. He added: I would just warn other clubs to be careful, you have to be aware. The incident has been reported to police. Anyone with information should call Cambridgeshire police on 101 or Crimestoppers, anonymously, on 0800 555 111.
