A second cat has been shot in Perry a month after the first was targeted – and both victims belong to the same family.
Jeanine Swanepoel was horrified when her two-year-old tortoiseshell Puddle returned to her Blythe Green home screaming in pain last month. She required a three-and-a-half hour operation to pin her back leg together after a bullet shattered her femur.
But the nightmare recurred on Sunday (August 10), when black and white Cuddle, Puddle’s sister, was lucky to survive after having been shot in the head at about 10.30pm.
A distraught Ms Swanepoel said: “Cuddle was shot between the eyes at point blank range, the bullet a 22 calibre again. It hit her skull and ricocheted behind her left eye and blew it (her eye).”
At the time of The Hunts Post going to press, Cuddle was at Church House Veterinary Clinic in St Neots where she was to be stabilised before an operation was attempted.
Ms Swanepoel had offered a £500 reward for information leading to the conviction of whoever was responsible following the first shooting.
Police have been informed of the latest shooting and officers were due to visit yesterday (Tuesday).
