A car crashed into a water-filled ditch near Ramsey in the early hours of yesterday (Sunday).
A 27-year-old from Peterborough was driving along Forty Foot Bank shortly after midnight when the car left the road and into the dyke. Police were called at 12.20am, where they alerted the fire brigade. One crew from Ramsey, one from Huntingdon and one from Stanground attended the incident and firefighters helped one person to safety before returning to base by 2.10am.
The driver was arrested and the road was closed while the vehicle was recovered.
He has been charged with drink driving and will appear at Peterborough Magistrates’ Court on June 2.
