Detectives found 400 plants worth an estimated £300,000 when they raided the car wash on the eastbound carriageway near Swavesey.

Esmerald Jahelezi, 28, and Andrilon Mehmetaj, 31, who were living at the factory, were jailed at Cambridge Crown Court today (February 21) after they admitted producing cannabis at an earlier hearing.

Jehelezi received two years behind bars and Mehmetaj one year.

A third man charged with cannabis production was released after the charges were dropped.

PC Ross Spalthoff said: “We believe these drugs were being produced to be sold in the county and have thankfully been able to prevent that from happening.

“We will continue to use every opportunity available to us to prevent drug production and dealing in Cambridgeshire and would urge anyone with information about drugs to report it.”

The court heard that officers received information that cannabis was being produced at the car wash and raided the site on January 11 where they found the plants growing.
