Officers have also released a CCTV image of a man they would like to speak to in connection with the incident, which took place at 11.30am on Monday, August 31. PC Wendy Freeman, who is investigating the incident, said: The victim, a 56-year-old female member of station staff, was checking tickets at the gate line, when a man threw his push bike over the barriers and attempted to push through. When she challenged him about his behaviour the man became verbally abusive and threatened her with violence. This was a distressing incident for the victim, who was left fearing for her safety, nobody should have to experience such intimidation simply for doing their job. All rail staff rightly expect to come to work every day without the fear of violence or abuse. British Transport Police will not tolerate aggression of any kind towards railway staff and we will do everything possible to track down the offender and bring him to justice. I would like to appeal to anyone who may recognise the man pictured or knows his current whereabouts to contact police, as I believe he may have key information which could greatly assist our investigation. Anyone with information about this incident should contact British Transport Police on Freefone 0800 40 50 40 or text 61016 quoting reference MSUB\/B9 of 12\/10\/2015. Alternatively, information can be passed to the independent charityCrimestoppers anonymously on 0800 555 111.
