The school has converted to a sponsored academy as part of the Stratton Education Trust, along with Stratton Upper School in Biggleswade. It marks the latest stage of its development since Cambridgeshire County Council pledged last June to keep the school open. It was placed in special measures last February after inspectors concluded it was failing to give its pupils an acceptable standard of education. However, a monitoring visit by inspectors in November confirmed that the school was making satisfactory progress. As an academy, it would be removed from special measures, the council said.
