A LORRY fire on the A1 this morning caused minimal disruption for motorists in Huntingdonshire.

Firefighters were able to put out the blaze under the cab of the lorry in less than an hour. The lorry had caught alight while parked in a lay-by next to the southbound lane of the A1 near Little Paxton at 7.40am.

Both lanes remained open. It was a far cry from yesterday’s lorry fire on the A14 which saw firefighters tackle 20ft high flames and brought traffic to a standstill for eight hours.
