Dr Brown is also chairman of the Greater Cambridge Partnership, and was High Sheriff of Cambridgeshire between 2010 and 2011.

Magpas chief executive officer Daryl Brown said: “I am delighted that Nigel has been elected chairman of Magpas. The charity has such a strong foundation within our communities. Nigel understands the absolute significance of this heritage and how important it is for us to develop our world class medical service.

“We are entering a key time in the life of the charity, with the up-coming withdrawal of the Cambridgeshire police helicopter.
