A FATHER helped deliver his twins after the mother went into premature labour at home.

The woman went into labour around midday yesterday (Thursday) and the first baby was delivered by the father, alongside an ambulance crew.

Magpas Helimedix doctor Peter Holden and paramedic Mark Glover arrived as the woman, in her mid-20s, was giving birth to the second child.

The Magpas team helped the babies with their breathing and assessed the mother before transferring the three patients to Peterborough City Hospital.

On arrival, from an address in Peterborough, all three patients were in a stable condition.

Dr Holden said: "We wish everyone well and would especially like to congratulate the father of these children, who successfully delivered the first baby alongside the Ambulance Crew at the scene."
