A MAN was seriously assaulted by a group of young men after challenging them for jumping on a car.

Cambridgeshire police said the incident happened between midnight and 2am on Saturday (July 9) in Great Whyte, Ramsey.

The victim, who is 20 and from Blackpool, saw his attackers jumping on a vehicle which moved away as he approached. The group then turned on him, punching and kicking him to the ground.

The men walked away and the victim continued on his way home with a friend but when they reached Station Road they came across the group again.

One of the group punched him and the others joined in the assault, punching and kicking, when the man fell to the ground.

The victim was left unconscious and was taken to hospital where he was treated for serious injuries and released that evening.

Dc Tracie Furnell, who is investigating, said: "This was a nasty and cowardly assault in which a group of seven to nine youths kicked and stamped on the victim until he was unconscious.

"I am keen to speak to anyone who saw what happened or knows who might have been in this group of attackers."
