CAMBS: Arsonists use tyres to torch farm gates

ARSONISTS used car tyres to cause thousands of pounds of damage to two farm gates in Stretham.

Fire crews were sent one entrance at Green End, Stretham, at 1am on Monday and again to another at Ely Road, Chittering between 6.30pm and 7.30pm.

Police say the arsonists placed tyres around the electric gates before setting them alight. A spokesman said: “These tyres have caused considerable damage worth several thousand pounds.

“The offenders would have had to use a van or large vehicle to transport the tyres and both locations are on busy roads so I would appeal to anyone with any information to call police.”
