Work on installing average speed cameras on the A1 between Buckden and Southoe to enforce a new 60mph limit will over-run by nearly a week.
The Highways Agency originally said the project, which is costing £1.02million and started on Monday, February 17, was due to be complete by Sunday, March 15.
But this week it was confirmed the cameras would not be switched on until Friday, March 21.
An HA spokesman said: “Completion dates can sometimes vary and be subject to change and in this case the proposed date of March 15 was weather permitting, as originally stated.”
He added that once complete, the new 60mph speed limit would apply and would be immediately enforceable by the police.
The new limit will cover a 2.1-mile stretch, from just south of the Stirtloe turn off to 300m south of Lees Lane, Southoe.
