Robert Burton, from Easton, raised nearly £600 for the hospital in a single day by busking on the streets of Cambridge. Robert, who busked playing his saxophone during half term, said: I really enjoy playing and just wanted to raise a bit of money as a way of saying thank you to Papworth Hospital for making my granddad better. I never dreamt that I would raise so much. Roberts granddad, Philip Burton, also from Easton, underwent double bypass and valve replacement surgery at Papworth in May and is now fighting fit and back working on his farm. Mary Liley, development director of Papworth Hospital Charit, added: We want to say an enormous thank you to Robert for raising this fantastic amount. What an inspirational and talented young man he is. His family must be so proud of him. Robert, who also plays piano, won the Young Performer Award at the Cambridgeshire County Councils buskers and street performers festival. He will be performing, along with other winners, on Sunday (November 20) in Cambridge at the Christmas lights switch on.
