AN AMERICAN wedding planner is preparing to launch her own events company just four months after arriving in the UK.

Heidi Thompson, originally from Detroit, found her employment opportunities limited by the recession after arriving in Somersham in October and so decided to set up An Affair to Remember Event Design & Production.

The company will officially be launched at the wedding fair at the Peterborough Marriot on Sunday.

With years of experience in event planning and hospitality, she hopes to build up a client base throughout Cambridgeshire from her base in Somersham.

"I hope that what will set An Affair to Remember apart from other event planners is the personal touch - I have the experience, and I can also make sure that all the little details are covered. People can also keep up to date with my blog, so people can keep up to date with advice and background information."
