Sawtry sex shop gets totem consent

A TOTEM sign for Sawtry’s sex shop, facing the A1(M), has been given planning consent after the applicants reduced the height by one-third.

Huntingdonshire District Council refused consent for a six-metre high sign at the Pulse and Cocktails shop – in the former Little Chef premises in Toll Bar Way – earlier this year.

But planners have now approved a four-metre high totem, saying that it would not seriously harm road safety or visual amenity.

The applicant, Rotherham-based Cocktails Limited, will now have to convince the council’s licensing sub-committee to vary the terms of the licence before the sign can be erected.
