TWO Huntingdon business people have been elected as officers of the East of England area policy unit of the Federation of Small Businesses. Michael Mealing, who runs Magis (UK) Limited, in Godmanchester, was elected vice-chairman, and Jill Pincott, who runs Asckey Data Services Limited, in Pidley, was elected treasurer at the annual meeting in Stowmarket. Mr Mealing said: "As the leading business organisation in East Anglia, the FSB has good partnership links with regional organisations such as East of England Development Agency and GO-East, as well as with the region's Euro MPs and other political leaders. "I am looking forward to being vice-chairman for the next 12 months, as we have a first class team in place." Mrs Pincott added: "The policy unit brings together FSB experts from across the six counties in the region who specialise in different areas ranging from crime against business to local government, skills and training to transport which enables us to prepare data based responses to consultations, providing responses based on the actual experiences of businesses in the region. "To achieve that high standard of data-based evidence in our reports costs a considerable amount of money but it is money well spent in terms of the benefits it brings our members and I am looking forward to making sure we get the maximum benefit for every penny we spend.
