DISABILITY charity Papworth Trust is creating a life-sized cake in the shape of a wheelchair to celebrate International Disability Day on 3 December.

The cake is being built by clients from two learning centres based in Papworth Everard and Saxongate, Huntingdon, who will work with the help of local community caf Coffee Unlimited from Papworth Everard.

Clients are working on the cake during cookery session over two weeks, and will complete the design work with icing details and liquorice sweets for the control panel.

The Papworth Trust centres in Papworth Everard and Saxongate, Huntingdon, offer a range of activities for people with physical and learning disabilities, including volunteering opportunities, accredited training and a comprehensive creative arts programme.

The centres will open their doors to the public with a play written by clients and performed as part of an open day on 11 December in Huntingdon Methodist Church.

Amelia Hodson, manager of the two Papworth Trust centres said: "This project brought our users together for a unique project to celebrate International Disability Day. We welcome everyone from the community to come and find out more about our activities at our upcoming open day on 11 December in Huntingdon.
