CAMBRIDGESHIRE county Trades Union Council has launched a new trades council to represent Huntingdon and St Neots area. It held its first meeting last week.
Tony Carter, chairman of the county TUC, said: "We have a trades council in both Cambridge and Peterborough, representing thousands of union members, and the county TUC feels it is important Huntingdonshire trade unionists have the same benefits."
He added that, with an increase in membership over recent years, it is important that different unions have the opportunity to meet each other and discuss problems and issues.
"Trades councils are about supporting each other and helping our members when a problem arises, such as Hinchingbrooke Hospital.
