HUNTINGDON MP Jonathan Djanogly has told local authorities and the developers of the new Alconbury Airfield enterprise zone to beware of local companies relocating to take advantage of the tax breaks available.

The MP met Urban and Civic, the company that owns the 1,400-acre airfield site, on Friday to seek assurances about who would be acceptable as tenants in the 150 hectares that will form the new zone over the next three years.

He has also made his fears known to the local authorities, including Cambridgeshire County and Huntingdonshire District Councils, represented on the local enterprise partnership that is behind the EZ.

“I’m concerned about the issue of displacement of local companies using the tax breaks to move,” he told The Hunts Post.

“This is an opportunity to attract new investment, new jobs and new money into the area.”
