A USA-based company is expanding its operations by moving its UK branch to St Neots.

REM Chemicals moved into a warehouse and office space at Alington Road in Little Barford on July 9, and is already operating from the site.

The subsidiary has relocated from Sandy in Bedfordshire, with the company saying that the new premises “have a better arrangement for our purposes”.

Justin Michaud, director of operations at REM, added: “We are excited to be moving into this new facility, which will allow us to continue to grow and service our European markets.

“We look forward to the increased capabilities that this new facility will allow us to acquire and the additional business that it will allow us to absorb.”

The firm, which specialises in metal finishing and surface engineering, has already been operating in Europe for over 20 years and its clients include Rolls-Royce and General Electric.

Paul Stockwell, a commercial agency surveyor at St Neots-based property specialists DH Barford and, which leased the 14,500 square feet premises, said: “During 2010 we have seen a continuing demand for commercial premises throughout Huntingdonshire and North Bedfordshire areas.

“In addition to the REM Chemicals letting, a number of other sales and lettings have taken place, including the sale of Barham House, a 12,000 sq ft property in Alington Road, St Neots. The increased demand pointed to a continued recovery from last year.”
