HUNTINGDON-BASED racing cars-to-composites Lola Group, a world leader in engineering, design and manufacturing, has appointed Jean Marchioni as Lola Cars International managing director immediate effect.

Mr Marchioni is well known in the international racing community, covering important positions with top racing organisations for over 20 years. He has very recent top level experience in Le Mans Prototype competition – a key activity for Lola Cars – as technical director with championship successes.

Mr Marchioni said on Friday: “I am delighted to be given the opportunity of this role with one of the world’s best-known motorsport constructors. I am very much looking forward to the challenge of managing Lola’s motorsport programmes and widening our business on the global motorsport stage.”

And chartered engineer John Gobbi, who has acted as interim managing director of Lola Composites since January, has accepted the position on a permanent basis.

“John brings to the role a wealth of experience and a proven track record in leading-edge technology,” a Lola spokesman said.
