SINCE winning the 2007 Hunts Post Internet Award, St Ives-based tape manufacturer Le Mark has continued to evolve and expand its on-line and direct sales activity, and has now grown into new premises at the Houghton Hill Industries Park.
Behind the success last November was Mark Gibbons, the originator and innovator of Le Mark's on-line business strategy, who has since been promoted to business development director.
"The website strategy has always been to 'feed and direct' enquiries through the Le Mark's two websites," he said. "This retains our clients' complete choice and control of how exactly they want to do business with our company. They can, if they wish, still place their orders electronically using conventional e-commerce methods.
"Or at any time they can revert to traditional people-powered order placing, where they have the opportunity to talk and discuss their individual applications. Le Mark staff are fully trained and conversant in the technical attributes of our constantly growing product range".
Le Mark continues its long-standing philosophy of giving superior value for money products with superb service, said founder and managing director Stuart Gibbons this week.
"Like many UK companies, Le Mark has seen the much-discussed 'credit crunch' grip and shake British industry. The next years will be a very demanding time for all business but, despite the economic predictions, Le Mark made the decision to move from its old premises to brand new custom-designed offices located at the new Houghton Hill Industries Park.
"This has given the company and its staff the opportunity to work from a superb refurbished and rebuilt rural location, while internally the building comprises state-of-the-art facilities and environmentally efficient green features.
"Our belief was simple: if the company was going to continue to maintain its market share under extreme economic pressure, then the entire Le Mark team would need to work harder to achieve this. By moving to a far more employee-friendly environment we are recognising their needs and responding to them."
Stuart Gibbons added: "Phase two of the development will see the completion of a new warehouse and production unit so that all the team can benefit from the new facilities. This will give Le Mark increased production and finishing facilities with a threefold growth in space and storage."
