BIG TIME BECKONS: St Ivo School student company Apollo has won the Best Business section of the Huntingdonshire Young Enterprise award scheme.

Malcolm Lyons, Huntingdonshire chairman of the Federation of Small Businesses, pictured presenting the award it sponsors to the team, said: "Businesses need this programme in schools in order to achieve the business skills of the future."

Apollo has developed a raft of business skills during the project - the first being to split the operation into two divisions: Ceres, which sells Wheat Heats (small bags filled with wheat and lavender) and Woodchuck, which makes goods from freshly-cut wood.

The young team members source materials locally and were in profit at the time of the area finals at Wyboston.

Finalists will now go on to the Cambridgeshire final, the East Anglia finals and national finals.

Huntingdonshire Young Enterprise vice-chairman Angela Saward said: "FSB Huntingdonshire sponsors one of the Hunts Post Business Awards, so I suggested that they could 'come down a generation' as well and support the Young Enterprise awards in Huntingdonshire."
