A DECISION on whether an eight-turbine wind farm can be built on the former airfield at Graveley is expected in the next couple of weeks.
Huntingdonshire District Council refused permission for the development last autumn because of the effect on surrounding villages and nearby listed buildings.
The applicant, Npower Renewables, a subsidiary of German energy giant RWE, appealed, and a public inquiry was held in May.
The planning inspector is currently considering the parties’ views of the likely effect on the Cambridge Gliding Centre at Little Gransden airfield, which also hosts an annual charity air show.
Since the inquiry, the new Government has ditched the over-arching East of England Regional Spatial Strategy, saying it wants planning decisions taken locally. That move will also figure in the decision.
