A NEW Government boiler scrappage scheme has triggered an increased interest from homeowners looking to replace their boilers, according to central heating specialists Kershaw Contracting Services.

The scheme, launched at the turn of the year, encourages homeowners to replace their old and inefficient boilers with a £400 cash incentive towards a new one.

Kershaw's contracting services manager Ian Macklin said: "Many homeowners have boiler systems that are energy inefficient and cost more to run than new, improved boilers.

"The scheme is designed to help people upgrade the energy performance of their heating and hot water systems.

"By replacing old boilers, homeowners will also see a reduction in their energy bills."

INFORMATION: Those who qualify for the £400 contribution towards a new boiler include homeowners, tenants in privately-owned houses and people who have a G-rated (lowest-efficiency) boiler.
