BRITISH schools may be well into their summer holidays now, but one Huntingdon company is working flat out to ensure German schools are ready for the coming academic year.

SPC Verlag, which produces school planners and yearbooks, will be beavering away throughout the holidays to ensure that schools in Germany receive their annual supply of student diaries, year books and planners in time to start the new school year in September.

The company, which has been established for eight years and is based at Hurricane Close on the Ermine business park, produces up to 600,000 individual items each year across Germany.

Orders are placed by schools during the winter months and from April until September the products are despatched to Germany and, with each school having an average order value of 10 boxes it is a sizeable task that is now undertaken by specialist carrier City Link, which operates a flexible warehouse-linked service timed to coincide with the times schools are open during the holidays.
