THE Huntingdon Marriott Hotel has received the US-based group’s prestigious Alice S. Marriott Hall of Honour Award for Community Service.
The award has been bestowed annually since 1992, honouring the legacy of the company co-founder, Alice S. Marriott and the Hall of Honour is presented to just eight Marriott hotels globally - out of nearly 500 hotels in 60 countries - in recognition of a hotel and its team’s excellence in community service. It carries the commitment of the company founders that, by giving energy, time and resources, we help improve the lives of others, the company said.
Assem Sweidan, general manager at Huntingdon, said: “We are all overjoyed to have received the Hall of Honour award. Last year, associates at the hotel freely gave up hundreds of hours of both their work and own personal time in ‘Spirit to Serve Our Communities’ projects, building goodwill, creating lasting bonds, supporting our community and inspiring us all to be a good corporate citizen, which is the Spirit Serve philosophy the company has valued for over 80 years.
“It has never been our style simply to give money. ‘Spirit to Serve Our Communities’ is an intensely hands-on philosophy and donations of time, facilities and services are as important as writing cheques,” he added.
