A Huntingdon engineering company has secured a long-term contract to supply black cabs in London.
TRB Lightweight Structures, in Clifton Road, has been chosen as the supply partner to the London Taxi Company for wheelchair access ramps and intermediate steps.
The ramp and steps provide passengers with limited mobility easy access to or from the street, allowing wheelchair users unrestricted travel anywhere in the capital.
TRB’s ramp folds into the back of the London Taxi TX4 to become part of the floor and features new up-ramps for safer access, ensuring the ramp meets health and safety laws. The lightweight step can be stored in the boot.
Nana Darko, supply chain analyst, said: “When The London Taxi Company wanted to implement improvements to their access ramp and step for the iconic London Taxi, we turned to TRB Lightweight Structures for support. TRB’s design excellence and collaborative approach, combined with a commercially beneficial business model, makes them an ideal partner.”
