BROOK House, one of St Neots's most important Listed Buildings, which has been refurbished to provide good quality offices with a particularly high level of dedicated car parking, has been sold to a company operating in the care sector.

D H Barford and Company, who acted for the previous owners, JIB Services, reported interest from parties interested in converting the property to flats, an old people's home, and from individuals wishing to use the property as a single domestic dwelling.

However, after all possibilities had been considered, offices attracted the best price, said Barfords director Phil Halmshaw.

"We did look at the options for a range of alternative uses for Brook House but, as an important Listed Building, the restrictions on alterations meant that the best outcome was to continue the existing office use.

"There was an extremely good level of interest, and the conclusion of the sale for continuing commercial use is a vote of confidence in St Neots as a business location in this increasingly difficult economic climate," he added.

The three-storey property has considerable character and was regarded by the purchasers as a perfect opportunity to acquire offices of exceptional character in a town centre position, Mr Halmshaw said.
