A FENSTANTON hearing specialist has helped design a revolutionary new wireless FM hearing system that is being manufactured at Cambridge Science Park.
The iEar, manufactured by Auriplex Ltd after consultancy advice from Steve Mantle, of Clearerhearing, based in Fenstanton High Street, can also work as a child-minding device.
It consists of a transmitter - for example near a television set or hi-fi - sending sound to the hearer's earpiece without the confusion casued by sound sources between the two.
Attaching the transmitter to a toddler would enable a parent to monitor the child's environment at a distance of up to 25 metres, for example in a play area, giving the child a bit of freedom and the parent some comfort that the offspring is safe.
Mr Mantle said: "In an age where more and more people are wearing Blootooth headsets for their mobile phones the technology fits in very well"
INFORMATION: Clearerhearing is at 28 High St, Fenstanton, PE28 9JZ: phone 01480 300955.
