HUNTINGDON-based Anglian Water has won a Global Green Award for its Biodiversity Field Guide and intranet site.

The water company scooped the Best Green Internal Communications award at a ceremony held at the Natural History Museum earlier this month.

The judges recognised the field guide’s efforts to encourage Anglian Water staff to get involved in monitoring and maintaining the ecology of the East of England. The company looks after 47 Sites of Special Scientific Interest on its land.

Anglian Water’s biodiversity manager Andy Brown said: “We are delighted to have won this very prestigious award. Protecting wildlife and enhancing biodiversity is very important to us.

“Sites such as water and sewage treatment works are unlikely havens for wildlife. We want our staff to recognise the value of what we have, and help us take steps to protect it where we need to.”
