THE Grade II-listed former Woolpack pub in Bridge Place, Godmanchester, which was used as staff accommodation by the Old Bridge Hotel just across the river, has been sold.

The purchaser, Fernbrae Estates, plans to refurbish the building for residential use, said Alan Matthews senior partner in Barker Storey Matthews, who handled the sale for Huntsbridge Limited, owner of the Old Bridge.

The three-storey property consists of 17 bed sitting rooms together with separate bathroom and laundry facilities.

Mr Matthews told The Hunts Post he had received five bids, all of them for more than the 200,000 guide price.

The building, which dates from 1801, is believed to have closed as a pub around 40 years ago.
