ACHIEVING the 2008 Employer of the Year Award brought The Huntingdon Marriott recognition across the world within the Marriott organisation for receiving this accolade in its local market place.

The hotel has built upon this recognition and used the award to attract various internal candidates from within the organisation for job openings and has also utilised the award with job seekers in the local labour market to join its successful operation, general manager Assem Sweidan said.

As a highly-regarded four-star hotel, the Huntingdon Marriott Hotel regularly exceeds guests' expectations for attentive service, supreme comfort and thoughtful amenities, he added.

Built in 1998, the Huntingdon Marriott Hotel offers distinctive leisure and business travel accommodation and has recently just undertaken a refurbishment of its Restaurant & Lounge areas. The hotel is operated by the Marriott International organisation and currently has more than 100 employees.

"The company prefers to refer to its employees as associates, as the organisation's philosophy centres on looking after its associates, who will in turn look after our guests to generate business growth and success," Mr Sweidan said.

"The hotel utilised this prestigious recognition of the 2008 Award in the best way possible by sharing the award with all associates within the hotel to further engage them in their work, which the senior management team believe is vital to the hotel's success in the current economic climate."

He added: "We want our associates to feel proud to work for the Huntingdon Marriott. This year, as well as achieving the Huntingdonshire's employer of the year award within our local community, the company was recognised nationally as the fourth best big company to work for in the UK by the Sunday Times, as well as winning the prestigious VenueVerdict Regional Award for Customer Satisfaction in the Meetings Industry for the East and Anglia Region.

"This demonstrates that our company's associates and leaders together are creating a workplace regarded as one of the best across all industries in the UK. Within the organisation, we do recognise that our leadership culture is different to many other companies'. Within the hotel the team seek to live that culture in treating each person with dignity and respect and, despite some difficult business decisions sometimes having to be made, we deal transparently and honestly with people.
