EMPLOYERS across Cambridgeshire are being urged to bid for money to encourage cycling at their workplaces. Cambridgeshire employers can share in a \u00A36,000 cash pot to be spent on facilities such as cycle stands and shelters, but the bids need to be in by the end of June. This is the eighth year that the Cambridgeshire Travel for Work Partnership (TfW) has run the Take A Stand scheme, with funds from Cambridgeshire County Council's local transport plan. Lindsey Rushmore, travel plan adviser at TfW which is hosted by the county council, said: "Take A Stand advises companies on quality cycle stands that cyclists really want to use. This encourages them to cycle more often. The Take A Stand money helps companies build additional cycle facilities or replace existing poor quality ones. "TfW has found that employers who can tie in their cycle-stand improvements with site travel plans are likely to see particularly good results. Not only do these measures help reduce congestion but they also have great health benefits too." INFORMATION: The bidding window for Take A Stand is now open until June 30. applicants should contact Travel for Work on 01223 715694 or e-mail Lindsey Rushmore at firstname.lastname@example.org.
