A FREE workshop aims to show employers how their staff can save money, get fit and beat the recession – simply by planning their journey to work better.

The session, run by the Cambridgeshire Travel for Work Partnership (TfW), hopes to help employers develop “effective and successful travel plans in a fun and informative way”, and to raise awareness of how workplace travel plans can help staff save money and be healthy.

Car sharing, bus and train transport, cycling and walking will all be promoted as alternative work transport methods, and tools such as travel surveys and home postcode maps will be available on the day.

The workshop will run from 8.30am to 1.30pm at Cambridge Regional College on Monday, September 20, and is the second of two workshops sponsored by the European Regional Development fund – administered by EEDA.

Tony Clayton, travel plan adviser at TfW, said: “There is a surprising number of ways an employer can encourage and implement low-cost sustainable transport options, and this workshop is all about giving employers practical tools and solutions and raising awareness of the opportunities.”

INFORMATION: The session is being held at the SmartLIFE Centre, Cambridge Regional College, Kings Hedges Drive, Cambridge, CB4 2QT. The workshop is free and a networking lunch is provided. Anyone wishing to attend should contact Travel for Work on 01223 715550 or e-mail info@tfw.org.uk
