AN educational consortium that includes Huntingdonshire Regional College has won a \u00A34.6million contract to train adult employees in the east of England. The Forward Skills Consortium, which consists of Cambridgeshire's four general further education colleges and is led by Cambridge Regional College, won the two-year deal in a process that involved 74 tendering organisation. "Train to Gain" is a new service designed to help businesses improve their productivity and competitiveness by ensuring that staff have the right skills to do the best job. The purpose is to deliver a range of skills training and assessment opportunities to meet the needs of employed adults in regional priority employment sectors, including construction, manufacturing, care, retail and hospitality. Primarily this is around NVQ Level 2 or equivalent qualifications. Training is flexible and can be tailored to the needs of employers and individuals through delivery at employers' sites or at the premises of one of the Consortium's partner colleges, CRC says.
