A STRATEGY to enhance the arts in the area, is to be launched in Cambridge this evening (Wednesday).

It has been developed by Cambridgeshire Horizons, the company established by local authorities to implement the Cambridgeshire Structure Plan up to 2016, including the provision of 47,500 new homes and £2.8billion of infrastructure - roads, schools, hospitals, leisure and community facilities etc - needed to support its development.

The arts and culture strategy looks at how new settlements can be equipped for culture and the arts and contains recommendations for the new town at Northstowe and Cambridge East.

The strategy forms part of the Cambridgeshire Horizons Quality of Life programme, which is aimed at ensuring high standards in the delivery of developments outlined in the structure plan. The work on arts and culture follows the launch of a green infrastructure strategy in June, a good practice guide for balanced and mixed communities in March.
