HUNTINGDONSHIRE businesses that have collaborated with a university on a low carbon project now have the chance to win 5,000 to continue work to further boost the company's green credentials.

i10, the business-to-university support service in the East of England, has created a Low Carbon Collaboration Award to celebrate the innovative work that is being carried out by companies to reduce their carbon footprint, using the wealth of experience and research carried out by students and academics at local universities and higher education institutes.

The award-winning business will not only be given the accolade of setting a low carbon industry standard, but will also be presented with a 5,000 voucher to carry out further university collaboration work.

The voucher could be used for a variety of different knowledge transfer projects including consultancy, research and development, facility hire or low carbon courses and training, the organisers say.

To enter the awards the collaboration project needs to have ended after July 1 last year. Entries close on June 30.

Businesses can apply for an award, for instance, if they have successfully completed an EEDA Innovation Voucher, KEEP project, Knowledge Transfer Partnership (KTP) or utilised i10's 1,000 low carbon voucher scheme which benefits businesses with two days' low carbon consultancy with one of i10's 12 universities. Businesses can still apply for i10's 1k low carbon voucher scheme until May 31 by visiting www.i10.org.uk/lowcarbon for more information.

INFORMATION: Entries will be judged by i10's project manager and an industry expert, and the winner will be announced in July 2009. Businesses can enter the awards by visiting www.i10.org.uk/lowcarbonaward or calling 0845 234 2314 for an application form.
