ELTISLEY-based Energise Engineering Limited has been given clearance to offer householders in Huntingdonshire a grant of £600 from the district council towards the installation of a solar water heating system.
It is in addition to the standard £400 grant from the Low Carbon Buildings Programme that almost all householders are entitled to.
This brings the total grant to £1,000 per house, which represents about 25 per cent of the cost of a solar water heating system, the company claims.
Energise Engineering has been designing and installing solar systems since 2002. Its engineers fit systems to existing houses and new build and supply larger equipment for swimming pools, nursing homes, hotels or industrial situations.
Energise says its systems produce most of a family's hot water in the spring, summer and autumn months, and in the winter make a smaller but useful contribution to hot water production.
