Pupils from Bushmead Primary School in Eaton Socon received a lesson in healthy eating as part of a national competition prize.

Youngsters from Year 3 and Year 6 enjoyed an hour of Fun with Food after a former pupil won a competition, organised by Tesco, to create one of the designs on the store’s hessian ‘bag for life’.

The Junior Chef Academy came into the school last Friday and ran a healthy eating workshop with pupils, using foods from six different countries, and allowing the children to make smoothies and other dishes using the ingredients.

Owner of the company, Paul Cooper, who coordinated Friday’s session, said: “It is about having some fun, but it is also about drip-feeding the healthy eating message for children. The ingredients we are using will give them a taste of food from around the world. We work with hundreds of schools across the UK, encouraging children from nursery age to Year 6 to develop an active interest in how food is produced and prepared.”
