Pupils gave a donation and painted their fingers with purple ink to identify with children in Pakistan, Afghanistan, India and Nigeria where polio is endemic who are marked with indelible ink when they are vaccinated. Headteacher Peter Allen said: We are delighted to support this campaign once again and have raised £165 enough to vaccinate 825 people. We have talked about the issues and looked at a BBC report from India that was broadcast earlier in the week. n MORE than £100 was raised at a Swimathon for the Rotary Polio campaign. Huntingdon Swiming Club hosted the event at Huntingdon One Leisure, in St Peters Road, in an event set up by members of St Ives Rotary Club.
