Stephen Collins, 51, of Weir Close, who was mistakenly paid a salary and did not report it, was prosecuted by the NHS Counter Fraud Services. He was given a six-month prison sentence, suspended for 18 months, and 200 hours of unpaid work after pleading guilty to theft of a chose in action. He also agreed to sign over part of his NHS pension to repay the NHS £31,205. Collins was incorrectly paid the money by Cwm Taf Health Board (CTHB) he worked for the health body as a GP out of hours call handler until November 2008, but continued to receive a full salary until August 2011. The overpayments began due to an administrative error but Collins did not do anything to prevent further payments.
