ADDENBROOKE’S Hospital has declared a major incident after flooding in the Emergency Department.
A hot water pipe burst at the Cambridgeshire facility causing flooing in the department’s resuscitation and assessment area. No one has been injured.
A spokesman said: “We are assessing the damage and also other areas in the hospital where ED patients can go. The ED is still open but capacity is severely affected.
“We are diverting ambulances to other hospitals and advising people to consider using alternatives such their GP or NHS Direct.”
A further update will be issued at 3pm.
