YESTERDAY marked the launch of a book detailing the history of the village of Colne.
Reflections of Colne has been written by Adrian Gibbs, who was born in the village but now lives in Somersham. He will launch the book on Friday (November 23) at Colne Village Hall, with all proceeds going to charity – including a one-off donation to St Helen’s Church and ongoing proceeds donated to Cancer Research UK.
Mr Gibbs, 56, of Parkhall Road, said he was inspired to write the book by his family, who are all from Colne. It includes previously unrecorded history and is a more “informal” look back at village life, including the May Day procession pictured.
