BMX star Mike Mullen kicked off Hinchingbrooke School’s Commonwealth-themed sports festival for Year 6 pupils in style.
More than 300 pupils from nine primary schools who are due to start at the Huntingdon school in September congregated on Thursday to take part in a host of sporting activities to help inspire them to take part in sport and physical activity over the summer.
Former world champion Mr Mullen performed several stunts, including jumping over headteacher Andrew Goulding, as well as meeting with students to talk to them about his journey through the sport.
Several Year 7 students wrote secret messages, like the Queen’s message in the Commonwealth Games’ baton, which were read out at the festival.
