Youngsters at St Mary’s Academy Primary in St Neots welcomed the Bishop of Ely, the Right Reverend Stephen Conway, to the school on January 22.
The visit was part of the school’s ‘name changing celebrations’ following its inclusion in the Diocese of Ely’s Multi Academy Trust.
During his visit, the Bishop spent time in all the school’s classrooms and gave pupils the chance to ask questions about religion, the church and the role of Bishop.
Parents, staff, friends and parishioners from St Mary’s Church, joined the Bishop and pupils for a service in the school hall at which Ann Williams was ordained as the school’s chaplain.
Former school governor and chaplain Mrs Williams said: “This new role is a welcome challenge of a different kind. We were privileged that Bishop Stephen was able to spend a whole afternoon talking to the children.”
